What is Semi Permanent Make-Up?

Semi Permanent makeup is a type of cosmetic tattooing that uses pharmaceutical grade pigments applied to the skin.  The aim of the treatment is to give a natural make up appearance that perfectly complements your skin tone using the right combination of pigments to enhance your natural features.  The make up can be used to frame the face and give fuller more defined eyebrows.  It can be used on the eyelids as eye liner to enhance the natural eye line.  It is also used on the lips to add colour to the lips and on the lip line to achieve fuller more defined lips.

The brow line is a face framer. Shapes should be chosen according to ones face. A brow’s ending is vital according to the face shape, either for round face, oval or square. The right brow line has the seemingly magical effect of taking years away from one’s appearance and giving the entire face a “lift.” In creating permanent eyebrows, a hair-stroke effect is used. When incorporated with shading which creates the illusion of depth, the hair stroke technique creates undetectable, totally natural looking eyebrows.

Lip liner re-shapes the lip line and gives lips definition. The shape of the bottom lip influences the shape of the chin, bringing the suggestion of roundness to a square chin or giving an oval shape to round a chin. Example: when outlining a lower lip on a square chin, the chin then appears rounder. Permanent lip liner is especially suggested for women who have a falling or droopy upper lip. Unfortunately our lips get smaller as we mature. Permanent liner can change the size and shape of the lips and make them look more pronounced. Permanent lip liner also corrects the appearance of a cleft palate.

What happens during the procedure

Our trained technician will evaluate your skin tone and natural features and select the most suitable pigments for you.  Once the shape, design and colour have all been agreed upon, the pigment is then carefully implanted into the skin. Depending upon the size of the area, the procedure itself will take about 90 minutes, and a retouch procedure is usually required 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment.

How Long Does it Last

The treatment is safe and is carried out with the highest hygiene standards.  A topical anaesthetic will be used to numb the area before the procedure. It’s no more painful than having your eyebrows tweezed. The permanent make up will last at least two and as long as seven years, the average is three years.  As the colour will gradually fade, a retouch treatment is recommended every 12 – 18 months to keep your make-up looking as good as new.
